3D mesh from France's LiDAR HD data

As a first step in the deployment of our pipeline, we are processing the LiDAR HD data using the open source algorithm Sparkling Wasure. Discover and experiment with this data!

About the project

The aim of our project is to merge data from different sources to produce up-to-date global maps, thanks to the scaling of state-of-the-art algorithms (click here to find out more about how we'll reward data contribution). Our pipeline will process this data to make it available in various formats (point clouds, meshes, LOD2…).

The data available on this page are produced by the first iteration of this pipeline: a single data source (LiDAR HD) and a single output format (mesh). By trying out this data, you're helping us to support the development of subsequent phases!

Note: This pipeline uses Sparkling Wasure, an open-source algorithm developed by Laurent Caraffa at the IGN and available here.

Mesh example

Try a data sample here to test the format produced by the pipeline!
A .b3dm file with 3 levels of detail, as well as various .ply files for each tile.

Pricing

This price help us cover our computation costs and support our team's work.

LiDAR HD data

Our pipeline uses the open data from the LiDAR HD program led by the IGN (French Mapping Agency).

Algorithm Sparkling Wasure

Our pipeline uses the Sparkling Wasure algorithm, developed by the LaSTIG laboratory and available here under a LGPL licence.
It will soon be available in the CGAL library.

Next steps

Here's our roadmap for the months/years ahead. Sign up below to receive updates!

  • Implementing calibration in the pipeline to integrate other sources of point clouds (aerial and terrestrial...) and deploy the project in more countries.
  • Implementing more processing options to produce other type of data (simplified LOD2 model without terrain...)
  • Implementing the incentivization mechanism (described here) to allow every point clouds producer to earn money by sharing its data with the protocol.
